Hawaii Vacation & Corporate Rentals
A large number of properties are available for temporary residences within the Waikiki and Downtown areas of Honolulu. Usual rental leases extend anywhere from a week to months at a time. Prices vary greatly factoring in location and amenities. Here is a list of some things to watch for.
- Tax
All short term rentals are subject to an 11.42% tax on the total cost of the stay. Be sure to factor this into your budget.
- Cleaning
Almost all rentals will assess a cleaning charge to the rental. In fact by law all landlords area allowed to charge $100 carpet cleaning fee regardless of how spotless or professionally cleaned that carpet is.
- Parking
In any city area or even some suburban areas parking is a rare commodity. If you plan to drive make sure that your rental includes a parking area. Monthly parking rates in some areas can be as high as $200.
- Phone
Confirm with your cell phone company that your service includes Hawaii so you wont be charged extra fees. Inquire whether your prospective rental has free local calling. Payphones are becoming endangered all around the country.
- Hotels
Some hotels offer great rates during off peak times. Sometimes rates can be even significantly cheaper then short term rentals.
