Continuing about 10 miles past the town of Hana you will arrive in the Kipahula area which is the home of the Seven Sacred Pools officially known as the Ohe'o Gulch.
The area is part of Haleakala Natinal Park and ther is a small entrance fee per car. Once inside the a visitor center directs you to a trail which overlooks a series of pools and waterfalls that eventually empty in to the ocean.
The Kuloa Trail runs in a loop from the vistor center and passes near most of the lower pools some which are safe for swimming depending on conditions. The trail takes about a half an hour to complete and you should make sure to heed all warnings posted on signs.
Another option includes following the Pipiwai Trail which end with closer views of the Waimoku Falls(390ft) and Makahiku falls (180ft). These impressive waterfalls also have a series of pools that are suitable for swimming but can also pose extreme dangers during rainy weather conditions. This hike takes anywhere between 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours depending on your pace but the payoff is well worth it.
