Akaka falls is the largest waterfall in Hawaii with a continous drop of over 442 feet.
The state park is located 25 mins north of Hilo off Highway 220 (after mile marker 13) and easily accessible from the road.
The amount of rain which is extremely common in this area controls how impressive this waterfall will look and sound. Rainbows are also regulary occur from the mist thrown up into the valley.
